COTD: Rimmel London Camouflage

July 11, 2009 Leave a comment

So, welcome to a sunnier day today than the past two days. Today I have for you, a lovely green I plucked out of a clearance basket at Wal-Mart on Thursday.

Camouflage

Camouflage

Rimmel 60 Seconds Camouflage is a killer, sweet grassy green with gold shimmer. I was just able to capture the gold shimmer within the polish on my nails, but did a better job capturing the gold within the polish bottle. This went on like a dream and dried seriously fast, with full impact in just two coats.

COTD: OPI Brand New Skates

July 10, 2009 Leave a comment

Okay, welcome to a terribly rainy day in my neck of the woods. Today I’m showing you, ironically enough, a lovely color that looks about as gray as it does outside.

Brand New Skates

Brand New Skates

Beautiful gunmetal gray with gold shimmer from the Holiday in Toyland collection. I picked her up at JC Penney’s salon for close to $4 since it was starting to be discontinued. This was five buildable coats to full impact.

COTD: China Glaze Blue Sparrow

Hi, and welcome to a gray Thursday morning where I live. Today I have for you, China Glaze Blue Sparrow.

Blue Sparrow

This is kind of a weird color to describe. Blue Sparrow is a neon blue matte with a ton of tonal shimmer. I say this because right away it applies and dries matte. After seeing the matte craze on many nail blogs, I realized that matte is NOT my thing, so I can’t say I’m too crazy about this one. It went on in about two coats with no base or top coat.

COTD: L’Oreal Paris Blue Laguna

This shall be the first drugstore polish I have for you guys. It’s L’Oreal Paris Blue Laguna, and I bought it at Walgreen’s last year because I thought it was such a beautiful color. (That, and it was one of their Limited Edition colors of the summer.)

This is a lovely periwinkle frost, although the piccie above shows it to be a somewhat more vibrant hue. In real life, however, this is a delicate, slightly darker, hue. I managed to catch a bit of shimmer for this pic, and it turns out to be tonal–the same, or close to it, as the base color. This was three coats for full impact.

COTD: China Glaze Awaken

Okay, this is TODAY’s Color of the Day. And I have another lovely color for you. It’s China Glaze Awaken, from their Romantique collection.

Awaken

Awaken

Awaken is a mid to dark charcoal metallic with a bit of shimmer. Now, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to catch much shimmer but I did nail the metallic part. This was one coat for full opacity, one of only two that can rightfully claim the title of one-coater!

COTD: OPI An Affair In Red Square

Since I didn’t do a Color of the Day yesterday, I figured I may as well post two separate COTD posts today. This first one is the lovely An Affair In Red Square, and it was supposed to be for yesterday, July 6.

An Affair In Red Square

An Affair In Red Square

This is a lovely red pearl/frost, as I like to call it. This was two coats with no base coat and no top coat. The polish went on smooth, I think, although I can’t remember since I did the swatching two days ago. It was taken at my computer with the sun shining through my living room window (incidentally, that’s where my computer is located).

COTD: OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue!

It’s day 5 of the series, and here we have the first blue nail polish for you.

Yoga-ta Get This Blue!

Yoga-ta Get This Blue!

Yoga-ta Get This Blue! is part of the OPI Spring/Summer 2008 India collection. It’s a deep primary blue with aqua shimmers that this piccie did the best job of catching. This was two coats to full impact.

COTD: China Glaze Lubu Heels

Today’s nail of the day comes from… China Glaze! And it’s the lovely Lubu Heels!

Lubu Heels

Lubu Heels

China Glaze has come up with a clever concept for this color. It’s made in tribute, I assume, to Christian Louboutin who made the red sole on his shoes his signature. Anyway, this color is a black base filled with little red glitters. I managed to catch some of the red glitters in this piccie. This was four coats to full impact. It’s a great black for warmer skinned people who feel like they can’t wear black because the red glitters warm it up a good bit.

COTD: OPI If The Fuchsia Fits…

Welcome again to Color of the Day! This time we have a lovely pink for you!

If The Fuchsia Fits...

If The Fuchsia Fits...

This is a thin fuchsia with iridescent blue shimmer. I managed to catch the iridescent part well, but barely the shimmer. The concept of this pink with blue flash isn’t original–there are other polishes, either lighter or darker, like this. This was five coats for full impact.

COTD: OPI I’m His Coral-Friend

Hello, and welcome back to Color of the Day! It’s a new day, and I’m here to show you…

OPI I’m His Coral-Friend!

I'm His Coral-Friend

I'm His Coral-Friend

Doesn’t it look beautiful? It’s a beautiful, vibrant melon-y coral jelly. Application was a bit streaky, but great nonetheless, thanks to the ProWide brush. This was four coats, but could use a fifth coat, for full impact.

Please have a look at the last entry to compare this coral to the green I was wearing yesterday to see which of these colors makes my skin ‘glow’, so to speak. I was looking at both this color and Orly Green with Envy and I think this color washes me out.
